Happy Birthday United States Navy

On 13 October 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the arming of two sailing vessels to intercept supply transports for the British Army. This act is officially recognized as the "birth" of the United States Navy. The Declaration of Independence came nine months later, followed by the creation of the Department of the Navy in 1798.

Let us all take a moment to celebrate the birthday of the world's finest navy! I'd like to personally dedicate this blog entry to my fellow bluejackets, past and present, who have given so much for our nation. Happy birthday, Sailors!!
